BROOK INLAYS.......GET YOUR BROOK INLAYS........

A lot of brook guitars inlay individualisation has been finished at the workshop recently, a nice oak leaf design, some initials on a heel cap along with a Celtic design based on a customer's pendant & finally a little shinyback victim of the diving blingfisher for BAS (Brook Acquisition Syndrome) sufferer Tony Kerry. Why, that's some mighty fine fantastically flamed maple you got there...

Getting a decent picture of my inlay work is always tricky, it's difficult in a single image to convey the depth that the grain of the wood naturally gives the finished pieces and to show just how much the flame and grain pattern changes when viewing them in three dimensions.

To give you a better idea of this. I have scanned this Alphonse Mucha design four times, rotating it 90º between each.

"Call that a fretsaw?...Nah, THAT'S a fretsaw"

Got myself a new fretsaw from the wonderful world of eBay this week. 

"What is the depth of cut on that fretsaw exactly?" I (don't) hear you ask......Well just you hang on to your hats because it's only a whopping 11"

Awful syntax in this title used there is...

"Well, I'm not Yoda............O.K, I'm Yoda"

Latest favourite inlay...

I'm proud of each of my inlays whether it's the second, fifth or twentieth but each inlay that I finish has a habit of instantly becoming my favourite & that is certainly true again with this one, I love this inlay 

Meanwhile, back at the workshop...

Have been working on this diving kingfisher inlay this week & although I do prefer to work with wood I must admit that a bit of bling is nice too...

Design scans

Have spent the last few nights putting my printer to good use by scanning all of my inlay designs....here are some pictures of my inlay designs that I scanned with my printer over the last few nights......

I made myself this new jig for joining wood this week, should come in handy for future pieces.
