This intricate Michael Caine inlay is made using some plain american red gum for the skin tone, cherry for the jacket, maple for the collar and hair highlights, bog oak is used for detail with the dark ebony. The background is lacewood

FILM NOIR

This inlay of the actress Gene Tierney is cut from ash, maple and ebony. I was interested in doing a series of film noir inspired pieces as i was sure that the use of light and shadow would work well for the design of an inlay

My second film noir style inlay, again based on a beautiful black and white photo of Gene Tierney. The face, neck and shoulder on this inlay is cut from a single piece of flamed maple. The background is spalted maple with an ebony border

This spalted beech and ebony inlay is a tribute to the late James Gandolfini, an incredible character actor who, along with David Chase, created the greatest television anti-hero in Tony Soprano
