Morpheus here is cut from mahogany, I used black limba for the background and bog oak for the jacket highlights, in real life, these give a slightly more green hue

Another Marilyn Monroe design, again using some beautiful golden imbuia wood for the hair, the grain really shimmers in the light. Her face is cut from beli sapwood and I managed to find the perfect piece to use, positioning it to make use of the natural knot for her beauty mark

I designed this latest square inlay on my iPad, based on a lovely old photo of Marilyn Monroe, I was eager to use some beautifully golden/ yellow coloured imbuia wood that I’d recently cut and Marilyn’s blond hair in this design provided the perfect opportunity

This Veronica Lake inlay is cut from beli sapwood, the hair is maple, padauk provides the red lips and blue lapis is used for the eyes. Inlaid into a deep black ebony background and framed by quilted mahogany with some more ebony used as a border

I’m always on the look out for interesting portraits with nice contrasting shadows that I can turn into an inlay, I found this one of Bill Murray on Pinterest and used pear, ebony and maple for this design
